I ran 1 pass wipe of the free space (89% of 950GB) and after it was completed it showed that I had only 169MB left or 0%.
What?? I found what appear to be fixes on youtube. But…I’d rather have them from a trusted source.
Many thanks!

Why did you wipe free space?
Unless you are selling your pc or replacing the HDD there is no need to wipe free space.
I never wipe free space as I use my laptop I let it just write over what was previously there.
What software did you use to wipe free space?
I had some documents that I wanted to make sure were gone. I’m not sure of how it actually works but I don’t use my computer enough to make sure that it would be written over anytime soon. I am old, cautious and paranoid.
I used Avast.
Your post didn’t include a fix. Mmmm, why?
Thanks
What is taking up the diskspace ?
Sorry, I don’t know. Worse yet, I don’t even know to how find the answer you’ve asked for without some instructions.
Second Reply.
Ok, I found where to look for the information. 820GB of the used space is called (Files at Root Drive) and was created
today, 11-12-2016. Can I delete this and recover the space or do I do something else?
