I have downloaded Paragon and currently installing XP on 500GB HDD to carry my music / video catalog.
But first do the backup of my 150GB, then the task of disassembling files and folders on that HDD (approx 85GB) and re-assembling media on a new build (Abit KN8). I like to stream music 24/7 in the house, but lately had fallen into habit of using same computer for internet, for music, and for my work Not good habit. My forgetfulness sometimes led to resource clashes (computer hangs). So now the biggest computer (4 x bays for Ram) will become media center and nothing else. Not sure whether to use Paragon for backup - also have Keriver on board.

Interesting about Windows 7. Planning to go there in the near future.
I’ve tried some of their programs like Total Defrag and Hard Disk Manager in the past. Was quite impressed actually, great programs. But i never tested the imaging/backup side so i don’t know how good that is. Will let you know how it works for me on Win 7.
You’re a champ darth_mikey. I have downloaded and installed Paragon to the relevant computer. I’ve kind of rushed into this so perhaps better take some time out on this one. Problem is I’ve never used my Keriver either. In truth, I’m a complete novice on this scale of backup business. When I say disassemble and re-assemble above, that pretty much tells how I’ve backed up my data, saving copies of my important stuff to removable media and keeping copies on other computers, piecemeal fashion but making sure to secure the data I cannot do without. I work okay moving about shifting and saving in Windows, even with large volumes. Still time consuming tho. Plus I’ve only ever lost one HDD and that was because I had it out of its cradle with the computer still running, my hand brushed across the circuits and bang, I only ever got System Halted out of it ever again. Lost a fairly extensive music collection and about three days work. Something I could live with. Two years later, I could not possibly live without the current collection. And the work on the systems is now my future livelihood. So this is a pretty significant change around and I’m glad the guys pitched in with some input. Already proving to be a bit demanding. I think this one out and learn good backup practice.
I did beta testing for them and received a free copy of the program after it was released. Sorry but I’m back to using the Windows 7 built in backup program.
That should give you my opinion.
I don’t know it appears to work fine over here but is certainly not as good as Acronis TI so i am sticking to that. But for a freebie it’s not bad. It seems to compress the images to about the same level as TI but the speed is nowhere near and the GUI is pretty bad. On a plus note there are basic disk partitioning options in there and it supports diferential backups.
I’ve moved all music / videos to another computer by running that computers HDD as slave, and copying the files across. I just happened that I did. But I’m still working on my backup practice. I didn’t know there was backup imaging in Easeus Partition Manager but seems that there is. I had a partition job to do. I ran paragon for a look and it told me something to the extent that the existing OS and incumbent files and folders (that is, my material - data & info and media content) is copied and then wiped and then reloaded to what was existing state. If correct, this seems a bit too much of digital ordeal for my system. I am not a very trusting person when it comes to these kinds of changes (hence my clinging to primitive practices). A brief look at Keriver, it seemed okay and I all but ran a backup on the spot, but held myself back as I already had a plateful of issues to deal with, plus the Abit KN8 just will not post (looking for another Athlon 939 mainboard). I haven’t given up and intend to run a full backup in the near future and probably set for differential backup as my running policy. The progress report for my backup project would so far read - put off while more research is undertaken into options and likely troublespots, Paragon no, Keriver possibly, and look into Easeus option. Oh, and download Acronis to have a look at that option
