I have been getting this alert several times an hour, usually corresponding to loading a new page in Google Chrome v 131.0.6778.86 (Official Build) (64-bit).
I have not been visiting this URL myself. I am not running any Avast Chrome extensions. There is no reason why my computer (other than the Avast program) would be currently visiting this site.
If you post another screenshot with the ‘See details’ option selected it might help.
Whilst it would be strange for Avast to be alerting on local(dot)avast(dot)com
You could try this as you weren’t intending to visit the site
Start by clearing your browser cache and cookies, including 3rd party cookies and restart your browser.[br]If that resolves it you should be good to go.
If it doesn’t try running your browser with add-ons disabled.
If that resolves it, have you added or updated any add-ons ?
If so try disabling that add-on - and restart and try again.
If still not resolved and you are using Chrome based browser - try this suggestion by Avast Team member ‘lukor’ - What about page notifications? Here: chrome://settings/content/notifications ? Do you have all cleared?
My apologies for not including all troubleshooting information. As an IT support specialist myself, I should have known better than to write the original post without including all data.
I had already cleared my cache and cookies for Firefox (although I rarely use Firefox), Chrome (my usual browser), and Edge (only used for streaming TV services), including 3rd-party cookies. Issue continued.
I had already run Chrome and Edge with add-ons disabled. Issue continued.
In Chrome, the only extensions are “Adobe Acrobat” and “Google Docs Offline”.
In Edge, the only extensions are “Capital One Shopping” and “PayPal Honey”, neither of which I remember installing, and disabled and uninstalled them as part of this troubleshooting, but the issue continued. “Google Docs Offline” is installed but disabled.
No extensions installed in Firefox.
Overnight, the issue stopped. I made no changes to Avast beyond running a full system scan. There is a new virus definitions file pushed out this morning, which may have resolved it.
For information I’m an Avast Free user and not an Avast Team member.
My default browser is firefox, with Opera as a backup - I tend not to use Chrome or chromium based browsers, Opera being the exception. So my experience in that area is limited.
