Frustration Over Customer Service

I wanted the ability to update drivers easily. I ordered an option because of the Thanksgiving Day sale. Then I found that the premium Avast does the same as the free. I decided to cancel. But the “support” person worked hard to sell me on another solution with all the downloadable apps for a year for up to ten devices, instead of just the premium for three years. I went ahead and downloaded them on my two computers. I ran the download updater. On the first one, it caused a loud beep upon restart and a blue screen. I’ve lost that computer. On the next one, I thought everything was okay, until I found I had no sound. Not being able to revert the recent download, I did a factory reset, only to find I the sound, speaker and microphone, were still not functional. I found the drivers on the HP website, deleted the corrupted drivers and reinstalled. It looks like they are running well.
Then I tried to cancel the subscription altogether. I couldn’t get through to chat, so I phoned. The technician wanted to show me all the times my computer stopped attempts, so that he could sell me a $1300 lifetime firewall. Even though I’d told him about my computer loss and damage through the download, he told me not to worry. He tried to blame what happened on everything else but Avast.
I don’t believe he cancelled the subscription to give me a refund. I didn’t want to be on the call any longer or have him retain access to my computer. I uninstalled the share program he had me download. I wouldn’t have done that if I knew it was only for a sales pitch. He led me to believe he was going to find what caused the damage when I did the driver updates. This he could not do. It was a sales pitch, in the pretense of caring about the customer.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? Do you feel unheard by Avast employees?
