I have the Avast Professional Edition and have a question. I have a scan scheduled every night at 10:00 P.M. which I would think is a full system scan, yet it finishes in 20 minutes. When I start a full system scan manually, it takes hours. What am I doing wrong? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Which Task are you scheduling?
Are archive files being scanned by this Task? How did you set it?
I suggest you create a copy of the fixed disk task and configure it according to your need. Click “Advanced options” for more settings.
here is a screen shot of it. Let me know if this helps!
Right click it and create a copy.
Right click the copy, rename, set its properties, schedule…
So, you’re saying that when you ran the “Scan: local disks” task manually, it takes hours, and when you schedule it, it takes 20 minutes?
How about the number of scanned files in the final statistics?
I’d probably suggest to enable creation of the report file in the configuration of this task (or a copy) and compare them.
Generally, the only thing that could make a difference is the user account the scan is running under - when you run the task manually, the scan is run under the currently logged-on user, while the scheduled tasks are run within “avast! Antivirus” service, i.e. under LOCALSYSTEM account by default.
Thanks to techs post, this issue is now resolved.
