guys i want to be clear about my nick coz some people misunderstand the “BJ” thing and they think it means “a sex activity”…my last name is mavrogiannis(these are not greek bt greeklish) mavro=black and giannis=john…so blackjohn or BJ is my last name 8)
Well, until you now mentioned it, I never thought anything about it. I figured the initials BJ were for your first and second names and that George was your last name. Guess I was wrong … thanks for the explanation, George.
Well, until you now mentioned it, I never thought anything about it.Yeah same and I just thinking of DJ when I saw the BJ.
haha coolies…just wanted to mention it coz i had a mail from a member asking “BJ is BL…OB?”
It’s interesting to know the source of your nick, George. Even if the reason for giving us an explanation was maybe a misunderstanding. I wondered whether George was your first or last, and never really gave much thought to the BJ part.
Add another one to the “I wouldn’t have known/noticed column,” if you hadn’t have said anything ;D
actually maybe its a good chance for everyone to explain its nickname(how it was created or what it means)…
haha ye george is my first name
I think mine is blindingly obvious ;D its my name and initial.
I vaguely seem to remember we did a topic like this before.
Like David, “MikeB” is my first name and last initial. That alone seemed to be already spoken for at many places I tried to register, so I added the Cda for Canada.
But still not quite good enough … many have jumped on the “BC” and assumed I’m from out west (British Columbia), when actually I’m in Ontario. So more recently, in places I joined after I did here, I use MikeB-Cda.
Well, my nick is my real name, hahaha.
I like my name very much , a valencian name, of course, not in spanish

When I lived in Raleigh N.C. people would say Yo for hello and as my name is Ken ( short form ) that’s how I got my nickname.
haha coolies…just wanted to mention it coz i had a mail from a member asking “BJ is BL…OB?”
Some people aren’t the brightest bulbs in the box.
Mines my name and the year I was born.
Hi folks,
Polonus is my nick, for my wife is from Poland. And “Polonus” is Latin for someone from Polonia.
I am of Dutch origin, my father’s family goes back to the year 1275, my mom’s family came originally from Prussia after the Prussian-French war.
I learned to understand and speak Polish, and that can come in handy sometimes,
polonus aka Damian

In the southeastern USA, BJ is a fairly common acronym/nick for men or women named Billy-Joe, Billy-Jean, Billy-John, Betty-Josephine, and probably more. My forum nick is just a misspelling of my real first name.

oh interesting :o
One of my kids in laws was given the first name of “BJ”
That’s what’s on his birth certificate and has on more than one occasion
presented him with problems.
Try signing into you Soc. Sec. on line account with just initials. ( It can’t be done)
He has been forced to make up a middle name just to do many of the things that require a name.
