Fx warns against Fat Plug

Hi malware fighters,

Fx warns against the use of Fat Plug to launch ads from an ad-platform.
Re: http://blog.mozilla.com/addons/2010/03/30/add-on-review-policy-update/

Users that have ABP and Fat Plug will use a lot of CPU that way. Question should Fat Plug be flagged as an undesirable? What is your opinion? Because the use of Fat Plug can masquerade suspicious activities from sites and make them harder to detect…

polonus

It’s an absolute yes for me.

Hi Asyn,

Yes plug-ins as the latest spamming trick: http://www.ritholtz.com/blog/2010/03/related-blog-posts-plug-in/
Time to have the additional wisdom of site truth: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=58719.0
What all has a undesirable ride-in on Google adwords, good to have ABP, RP and NS installed in the browser as well,

polonus

Thanks polonus, you’re right…!

@all: Be sure you remove all google entries from the whitelist in NS…!!

Personally I use add-ons because they help me, once one becomes a cash cow by inviting along some ads, then that is the day it will be history. So for me those that sell out to fat plug, will get a big fat sod off from me. I feel that Mozilla are correct in stopping add-ons being placed on the Mozilla site if they have fat plug built in.

I appreciate that people would like to make some money for their efforts. But the first plug-ins/add-ons/extensions came from people seeking out a way to make life and their browser experience better and shared it with the rest of the community.
