My avast protection is running all the time but however I got a virus called gabot (SOMETHING SIMILAR)
Is your VPS (virus database) updated?
Which is your OS? What version of avast do you have?
Which file was infected?
Finally, what was your sensibility (Normal or High) when that occured?
I have home free version of avast, on high level and program is updated. I don t know which file was infected because I removed virus imediatelywith buton delete/remove.
Hi sony
A bit of advise. Until you are 100% sure that the file is an actual virus and not a false positive, it’s safer to just put it into the avast chest.
That’s a safe place from where the file can’t be accessed by any program. If it should turn out that the file isn’t an actual virus, you would then always be able to restore it.
Once you know for sure that it is a virus, you can always delete it from the chest.
I hope that makes things clearer.
Thank you Bob for your advice. By the way you have nice picture.
if it was “Gaobot”
- Apply all Widowsupdates
- change all passwords/Set more secure ones…
- disable File-/printer sharing (if not on a network) and control/secure your shares
And do not login as administrator if you just want to use the system, but use a limited user account for daily work. Only use the admin account if it is really needed.
