Hello,
I would like to know if Avast detects exploit code, if not it would be an exelent idea to detect it because worms\viruses use it and would be a good protection for unknown threats and without the down side of false possitive.
Thanks

What do you mean by exploit code ?
Avast’s Network Shield is looking for common exploit attacks such as RPC/LSASS, etc. if that is what you mean.
By exploit code I mean like the actual code which cause the exploit.
But does it detect the latest Powerpoint exploit ??
Thanks

The network shield is looking more at the method/route of attack rather than the code as far as I’m aware, so I wouldn’t think it is going to detect exploit code for powerpoint.
I would have thought that is more likely to fall under the web shield in the same way as the WMF exploit was detected by the web shield provider and not network shield. So I guess we would have to await a signature for the exploit code to be added to the VPS.
