How do I get AVAST pop-ups off my computer…I cannot find a customer service 800 number and their tech support says they have to have my name to do it…they didn’t need my name to set it up and being old school, I’m not giving it out online…
Throughout the trial period, AVAST was OK, but as the trial period end approached, pop-ups started w/such frequency it became and continues to be an annoyance…plus I believe $30 is too high and wish to search elsewhere…meantime, I want AVAST off my computer…how do I make them go away?
Try uninstalling it in Control Panel in Safe Mode. Then install the free version. Even Norton has pop-ups, try installing Adobe Shockwave and if you don’t watch it you get it installed. AV builders gotta live too. Avast Free is excellent, it has a setting in settings for pop-ups, you can setup this at say 0 or 5 seconds. Et voilà!!!
Inside of the GUI, you should have two options for Registration. Either the paid version or the free version. Click on Registration and sign up for the column that says “I just want the free version.” Fill out the form and click Submit for your free license key and the pop-ups will go away. Avast is doing it’s job, telling you that your trial version has expired. If you don’t want to renew, just get the free version.
Note that if you ever need to reinstall the program, you MUST re-submit a Registration Form for a new license. (Good for 12 Months)

PS. If you don’t see an option for a free version in your current version, you can uninstall Avast through Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and than just get the free version from Avast, www.Avast.com Than follow the instructions above to get your free license key.
Just for the “fun” of it, I want to add that the registration for the FREE edition of Avast is also free.
So, instead of complaining about something that has a VERY easy solution (easier than searching for some toll free number and faster than posting your first post here), you may just need to read? Your “trial” version is not the same as the Free edition.
Avast provides at least 3 editions: Free, Pro and Avast Internet Security (AIS).
The Free is a full-featured edition. The trials are there so to give the possibility to test and try the Pro and AIS features. After the trial period, either you pay for Pro or AIS or you install the Free edition.
The Free edition needs registration too, but no payment. After registration, the Free edition fully works for one year, and you easily can renew the free registration after that period.
The trial finishes after 30 days, when you need to choose what to do with your registration.
