Getting avast to autorun on a U3 stick

Hi!

How can I get avast to autorun from the U3 stick?
I have got it to autostart, but is there a way to get it to “Autoscan” the entire computer?
I have a stack of servers for home use and I want to just insert the U3 device and let it scan the C: drive by it self, 5 servers and no monitors
So its a hell of alot of work to start the scan and create a log file.
Hope someone know what Im talking about.
Thanks

Welcome to the forums, Saet.

Since this involves servers, you might want to also ask this in the forum section titled “avast! 4 server edition.”

Thanks CharleyO!

Well, is avast! 4 server edition the same as the U3 app then ?

Of course not, I mean, server version is a complete package to protect server and not the stick U3.

Right, so where shall I post this to get the right replys ?
Does anybody know what Im trying to get to here ?

Im not going to install the server version, I just want to insert the USB stick into the machine and get a log, “does it have a virus or not?”.

When you insert an usb drive (and you’re using default avast settings), not a file will be executed (run) without being scanned. The ‘log’ (warning message) will be shown ‘only’ if an infected item was found.

Unfortunately, things are not that easy.

A full featured scanners needs low-level access to the system, which is not the case in case of our U3 application.

To that end, my recommendation would be to scan the servers’ drives from remote. I.e. use e.g. the admin shares (C$, D$ etc.) to map their volumes and have them scanned from your workstation.

Thanks

Hehe  Things are never easy

The problem with mapping the drives are that 2 of these servers are not on a LAN, internet etc.
They are just for secure storage for information.
I dont want to install the server app, as the definitions will not be automatically downloaded on those.
So there’s my problem, but I could have sorted that out with a U3 stick that could autoscan without me having to press anything…
