Getting BV:ExitWindows-E [Trj] warning on old text files on my hard drive

Starting this afternoon, I am getting warnings about the BV:ExitWindows-E [Trj] on several files that I have used daily for years.

Unfortunately, I need these files, so I can’t just delete and start over (they are 3MB text files full of my life :-).

Does anyone know if I should be worried, and what I should do.

Thanks!

Additional information:

  • If I save and then exit these files, Avast doesn’t say anything.
  • If I exit an unchanged file, Avast doesn’t say anything
  • If I exit an unsaved file and say “yes” to save, I consistently get the BV: warning
  • If I scan the files with Avast, I consistently get the BV: virus warning

What avast version are you using 4.8 or 5.0 ?

This relates to avast 4.8:
You could also check the offending/suspect file at: VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner and report the findings here the URL in the Address bar of the VT results page. You can’t do this with the file securely in the chest, you need to extract it to a temporary (not original) location first, see below.

Create a folder called Suspect in the C:\ drive, e.g. C:\Suspect. Now exclude that folder in the Standard Shield, Customize, Advanced, Add, type (or copy and paste) C:\Suspect* That will stop the standard shield scanning any file you put in that folder. You should now be able to export any file in the chest to this folder and upload it to VirusTotal without avast alerting.

Well generally text files can’t infect you provided that they are text files.

kindly try http://malwarebytes.org and scan ur pc to remove the malware and other malware that having in your Compuer.
