Glary Utilities Uninstaller

Hi.

Since Revo free doesn’t uninstall 64-bit native apps I’m thinking of using Glary Utilities Uninstall Manager.
Do any of you used it? Is it effective? Safe?

Thanks.

What the matter with just using the normal windows uninstall and then a tidy up with ccleaner, all these uninstall programs create more problems than there worth imo as they dont know the correct uninstall procedure’s for all the programs so in short i wouldn’t use any of them.

Personally I have never been a fan of these jack of all trades uninstall tools. I honestly can’t see how they will know as much as the applications programmers as to what is installed and where. As has been said the application uninstall in add remove programs should be your first port of call. If you need anything more it is on-line to find a specific tool for that application from its parent website.

Revo made a big deal that they could on their advanced/aggressive mode remove everything, but that is inly available in their paid version, thanks but no thanks.

Some others also rely on being able to actually monitor the install process, so no use for those programs already installed.

I have never used Glary Utilities Uninstall Manager, but I still don’t see the need for it.

hummm… maybe you’re right.

It isn’t so much a case of being right, but having an application installed sitting round waiting to do something which is already catered for in the OS and program.

Revo is a good uninstaller for 32-bit XP. It didn’t work really well for Windows 7 (even for uninstalling 32-bit application). I’m commenting for the free version.

I never try Glary in Windows 7. The last time I install it for trying it was in XP and I uninstall it after a few days of trying it. I forgot of what I don’t like about it but I can say for sure that I don’t need it in my computer.

There’s nothing wrong in trying it yourself and see if you like it or not.

There’s another alternative for you, it’s a small portable application named IObit Uninstaller. I’ve using the newest beta version of it in Windows 7 64-bit. It’s way better than Free Revo, though it sometimes still leaves a few remnant in registry (e.g. when you uninstalling Adobe Reader, Java).

I know many if not all forum member here didn’t like IObit for a good reason. However, I can say that IObit Uninstaller is a decent uninstaller and pretty harmless if you use it carefully.

An advice for you, never uninstall Microsoft application or any application which using Windows Installer (e.g. Ms Office, Windows Live, etc) using third party uninstaller. It’s always best to use Control Panel Add/Remove program for this kind application and clean the remnants afterward using CCleaner (though it’s usually will leaves a remnants even after this, but it’s better than using any third party uninstaller)

DarkMasters why even recommend an iobit product if you know there history and the views of 99.9% of people here on the avast and other forums wouldn’t go near iobit products, if your the kind of person that has no moral value for company ethics then by all means use the products yourself but please dont recommend there crap to the unsuspecting forum users.
On top of that you did say that in using iobits uninstall tool there were still leftovers in the registry, so what is the point in using or recommending it ::slight_smile:

DarkMasters you have a lot to learn about how bad are iobit product and I would even touch it, and I can’t remember where that post about iobit on the Avast forum and I agree with craigb

I’m not recommending the IObit Uninstaller. I’m just saying there’s another better alternative than Free Revo Uninstaller or Glary Utilities for one using Windows 7 64-bit (or maybe Vista too).

Of course if you uninstall program (especially something which come with protection against piracy, any antivirus or firewall, etc) either using Control Panel Add/Remove program or any third party uninstaller, there are always remnants of it (either file or registry key).

IObit Uninstaller does leave remnants (in my case is after uninstalling JRE), but it’s lesser than using Revo Free.

About IObit ethics. They are indeed a thief. However, if you’re really interested in history then after some digging, you’ll find that many big name company like Microsoft, Google, Sony, etc are quite the same though they are not blatantly stealing like IObit does. Still, that didn’t stop lots of people including me (and maybe you and other forum member here?) from using their product.

+1 for Revo
-10 for any iObit product.

-1 for revo or any other third party uninstaller
-10 iobit products

We are quite Anti-iObit

I don’t care how good a program might be when the companies ethics are in doubt, I would never use their products.

Not to mention, I honestly feel uninstall applications are a duplication/redundant and a waste of time.
