Glary Utilities

I saw a friend over on the Opera Community recommend Glary Utilities to another friend. I had never heard of Glary Utilities before, not even here on the avast Forums.

I took a quick peek at its website and on CNET. From what I gathered with that quick peek, isn’t this Glary Utilities basically the same thing as CCleaner? What do you all think? Pros / Cons? Does either one have a noticeable edge over the other? Does Glary Utilities do anything very useful that CCleaner doesn’t?

I guess I got more of a negative view of Glary Utilities from that thread.

I wish I had been able to read what the “Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals” had to say in that link. I just encountered a message saying that I was permanently banned from that Forum. Doh!

An advanced tool.
Sometimes it solves everything.
Sometimes it messes deeply.
Take care.

That’s because its for “Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals” postings only.

Sometimes it messes deeply.
and thoroughly.

So it messes deeply and thoroughly with FUBAR-esque efficiency, Eh? :o
I have no vacancies for that in my computer. ;D
So, I’ll stay away from it then.

I was trying Glary Utilities until a few days ago.It offered a update and tried to force Ask on me.In the licensing agreement it mentions Ask then while installing it showed four pre ticked boxes for Ask.I unticked three but one stayed greyed out so I could not remove their tick or so it seemed to me.So I had to give Mr Glary the Revo salute to see him off. ::slight_smile:

I tried the portable version just a few days ago…Im satisfied with the results but in the recycle bin glary goes^^ I have Ccleaner, I dnt need two cleaners at the same time^^

This is my second try at using Glary Utilities over the past 6 months - so that means I’ve gone through a few build and I’ve had so many problems with it. The main issue and it seems to persist is that it either is infected at the time of install or that it’s easily infected somehow??? - I’ve also installed it on my clients computers and they’ve complained about the same problem - that it’s a trojan and most anti-virus worth their salt pick it up as a virus. Bottom line, I’ve wasted way too much time resolving Glary Utilities issues - NOT WORTH IT!
