If you have more than one GMail account and you check them by an email client (POP check), you could have experiencing trouble after the first one download.
Even if you have only one account and keep checking the email continuously, the download could timeout.
The new feature is a GMail block of POPing.
It’s not a good new as the user get configurations trouble, the email program ask for the login/password a lot of times, spam tools timeout…
If we detect abnormal usage that may indicate that your account has been compromised, we may temporarily disable access. It will take between one minute and 24 hours for access to be reinstated, depending on the behaviour detected by our system.
Abnormal usage includes, but is not limited to:
* Receiving, deleting, or POPing out large amounts of mail in a short period of time.
* Sending mail to a large number of recipients in a short period of time.
* Using 3rd party file-sharing or storing software in your account.
* Logging in from multiple locations in a short period of time.
* Using your account for purposes other than email.
If you’re using POP to retrieve your messages from Gmail and your account has been locked, please read I enabled POP access, and now I’m locked out of my Gmail account.
I’m having trouble following whether you’re just commenting on the Google policy, or you’re actually getting locked out of your gmail accounts.
Anyway, I have two gmail accounts that I read and write to on Thunderbird, managed by Gmail Manager on Firefox, that check for new messages every two minutes. I use both accounts heavily. I’ve never had either account lock up, so just a suggestion if you’re looking for one…
Both… I’m commenting Google policy and yes, I’m having trouble with checking multiple GMail accounts at the same identity in Outlook Express.
The access to the second (and further) account is blocked, it’s timeout and block OE.
This is not a thing that common user will like, I mean, everyone that has more than one GMail account.
I never had a problem until three days ago… I heavily check the accounts (5 minutes) but, now, with one after another… problems: OE asks for the user/password.
I have two different computers with the same problem.
Users will blame against this. There are a lot of ways to avoid ‘problems’ (error messages) to the common user and, simultaneously, avoid denial of service.
Besides, I’m not hacking the Google server, I’m not spamming nobody… I’m an user with two accounts… why can’t they manage this…
I hope I don’t have to go to Windows Live accounts
I’ve haven’t used it, but it does give you the ability to send the report directly to Google for help, which might be just the thing you’re looking for, since the problems just started showing up.
