Hi. Just hoping to get some help and advice with a problem I’ve been having.
A few days ago I checked my Avast stats and saw that 1 threat had been blocked in the last 30 days. I logged into my Avast account on the site to check what was blocked and it was “go.wvydeo. c o m/xxxxxxx” which was blocked by the Web Shield. I haven’t been able to use my PC fully since otherwise I would have made this thread sooner, but this morning I wake up and there’s been another 3 threats blocked overnight from the same URL. I’m not sure when exactly they are happening because I’m not seeing a pop-up from Avast saying it’s blocked something. I only know there’s been a problem when I actually go into the stats menu for Avast, so I’m not 100% sure if it’s happening when the PC is idle or when a full-screen application is running. (Is there a way to set Avast notifications to stay open until closed by the user?)
I found this forum from Google which lead me to this thread: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=154473.0 in which essexboy seemed to resolve. It’s the exact same problem that the OP was having.
I’ve also done full scans with Avast, Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware which haven’t found anything.
All necessary logs have been attached. Hopefully we can get this fixed.
Hey and welcome to the forum. I Will Go and notify the malware experts on your topic. Someone Will help you later on today When they get in. But some of them are on vaccation.
AdwCleaner log added if it helps. Seems it has detected something but I haven’t clicked clean yet in case I’ve skipped some steps. Will wait for a reply.
hey rerun adwclener and click clean it will remove unwanted browser crap like toolbars and so one and don’t forget to post the new log it provide the adwclener. I should go and see if i can get someone of the exper on your case, but they have had some vaccationa few of them. so hang in there.
hey again yeah i’m no expert but it’s sounds on you information there is still something on your computer.
Be patience a expert will be here shortly i hope to help you solve this.
No, there hasn’t been anything since I made the thread.
There was just the 1 alert and the next day there was another 3. Now nothing.
I saw a thread where you helped someone with something similar that was blocking the same URL and you called it an “Idle Crawler” so that’s why I made the thread but if you think everything is ok we should be fine.
I’m just not understanding how my PC would be trying to access that URL in the first place. I don’ think I have anything installed that would be related to it and there’s no “wvydeo” in any of the browser histories. Strange.
Anyway, I’ll monitor it and post back if there’s any change.
There is nothing apparent, it may be that one of your programmes checking for updates was attempted to be re-directed. But. it does not appear to be on your system
