Google Chrome will come next year as a pre-install...

Hi malware fighters,

Google Chrome will make pre-installation distribution deals with OEMs next year as the browser will come out of beta. So they will put their full weight to promote their browser with the known “privacy concerns”.
Because of that I like the SRWare Iron Version much better.
I think Google Chrome came in when Firefox with NoScript and ABP add-ons installed was no longer the ideal browser for websurfing tracking and profiling purposes, but that is just speculation. Well I heard this murmured by people that are in the know inside the Mozilla temple. This was also the reason that the top security extension, NoScript, was never brought into the Firefox browser by default, as Firefox’s income is for 90% google dependant, and google has a big finger in the firefox pudding.

What I miss here in the forum is a list of the OEM trash and distribution undesirables that should be cleansed from a new installed computer. Even riskware now-a-days comes pre-installed,

Sorry, the off-topic, but Polonus, how Chrome update? Using Google Update service? Can’t it check for updates on startup like other browsers?

Hello Tech
Personally I don’t know that, as I don’t use it, but I believe it works the same way as other products that came in a Google Pack :-\

Hi Tech,

Info here: http://www.googlechromeupdate.com/
and off course here: http://dev.chromium.org/getting-involved/dev-channel/

Damien,
Order a Dell and you can get it without any pre-installed crapp.
I did that when I got my laptop.

Thanks Polonus. Mine is updated but I don’t know how it is updating…

Click on “Customize and Control Google Chrome” and then choose the “About Google Chrome” option.

When that window opens, it also starts the update check.

Where? I don’t have a translated option for “Customize…” as you’re saying…

Maybe this picture will help you:

Oh… it’s the About dialog.
Still can’t imagine how is it automatically updating… ::slight_smile:

Hi my forum members,

I stay with my new version of SRWare Iron browser, the Chrome look-alike without the negative privacy implications of the original one. Download the latest version of the Installer for Vista/XP from here: http://www.srware.net/downloads/srware_iron.exe

Just follow the directions and watch… ;D  ;D

I did… and that’s a ‘manual’ update, not an automatic one I suppose…

Correct. Automatic only happens if you’ve got the Google updater running.

So, Google updater is doing its job silently…, isn’t it?
