Google search engine blocks Avast webforum site..

Hello folks,

I tried to link to Avast Webforum through a normal google query and I got the Stop Badware block.
What is wrong with Google at the moment that it blocks all avast sites?
I experience this here with my local Dutch google page. Are other users also affected?
What is causing these general FP, as I assume it is?

Yes, polonus. I saw it too. It appears to be a bug.

Google “Google” ;D

Well I have just done a google search for avast forums and clicked on the one for forum.avast.com and arrived at the index page unmolested by google or stopbadware.org.

Interestingly I can’t reach stopbadware.org site I get a “document contains no date” error in firefox, so looks like it is getting some of its own medicine back :stuck_out_tongue:

What does this notification look like (image) ?

I don’t know if I having blocked a number of google stuff in both noscript and adblock plus, perhaps it is blocking the notifications :stuck_out_tongue:

It looks like they have fixed it now, it had a link under the main link saying something like;

“This site may harm your computer”

Even if you clicked the link to the site Google would pop up a window blocking it saying go back and try other search results and a little description on why they are doing it, even their own site got hit by it, someone mucked up at Google! :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi malware fighters,

The error that hit Google for half an hour was extra slash put in error the StopBadware blocklist.
So Google was duped by their BlockBusters, just one tiny / and the Internet turns bad for half an hour.

It also seems that google web searches weren’t affected (or less affected) but the toolbar was affected much more. Just a bug though.

:wink: New here, and I tried to get here through a simple Google search: avast forum, yeah it blocked me too the first time, just to let you know…
