Safe search on Google is always turned on on recent and latest versions of some browser like Firefox, Opera or Chrome since maybe one month ago (I can’t remember exactly when). However, it does not seem to be a coincidence between the latest browsers updates with this issue, because all other search engines accept safe search OFF, as before, on the same browsers where Google safe search off settings configuration does not work any more. I have tried all instructions by Google and I had a suggestion twice that it could be caused by Avast Premier. Tried to disable some Web/browser related functions for one hour without success. Hence my question in this post. If that is possible, please show me a way to TURN Google Safe Search OFF.
Here are the pages that I have read and followed, looking for a solution on Google Search Help forum:
Thank you for your quick reply. However, I dont’t understand what I can do with a list of search engines, and how that can solve the issue I described. I would never try to abuse of kind helping people here or anywhere else, asking for a list of search engines.
All I wanted and still need is a way to solve the issue I described because it is an issue that someone maliciously invented. I will be very grateful for help.
No, I’m certainly not as versed in Google as the people you already linked to.
The only alternative I see is what mchain mentioned and that is to use an alternate search engine.
Recently after a Firefox update, a number of search engine options were removed and it isn’t possible to add/install said search engines. I used to use Yahoo.uk as my default search engine, but I can no longer do that.
I can however choose many others as the default search engine (an option if you cant get rid of SafeSurf), but for now I use Google. If I open a new page at Google.com, it automatically opens and connects to my google account and click the Settings > Search Settings, it opens the search settings, SafeSearch isn’t checked.
I can make a number of changes (just try the number of results per page) and then click Save. Now check and see if those changes have been implemented in a search. If not that could indicate that it isn’t recognising ‘you’ as a google account holder outside of when you are making the changes. So it isn’t just SafeSearch that isn’t working.
An interesting domain name mycroft (Dr Watsons older brother) project :)
Yes - a great site - the go-to home of OpenSearch engines.
Take some time to stroll through the site: there are some surprising engines there (including a Tesco UK one!). I keyword all my search engines in Firefox, so I just type “te red wine” and I get to see Tesco’s selection
