HI
I have been having some issues with google. I think it is some kind of virus? I have tried to fix this and failed, so here I am. When a google search result comes up on a page and I click on one of the links provided it sends me to a site called searchinstant. net. It only happens on google. I have run all the scans on my anti-virus programs from, avast, malwarebytes, super antisypware and they all find nothing. I have been researching this problem and have found nothing. Does anybody have any ideas for me?
See if this gives us any clues:
-
Firefox popping up ads and or google search redirects.
Please download GooredFix and save it to your Desktop. -
Double-click Goored.exe to run it. - Select 1. Find Goored (no fix) by typing 1 and pressing Enter.
-
A log will open, please post the contents of that log in your next reply (it can also be found on your desktop, called Goored.txt). - Note: Do not run Option #2 yet.
HI
It is a google search redirect. Thanks
GooredFix v1.92 by jpshortstuff
Log created at 17:56 on 17/05/2009 running Option #1 (cory)
Firefox version 3.0.10 (en-US)
=====Suspect Goored Entries=====
=====Dumping Registry Values=====
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mozilla\Mozilla Firefox 3.0.10\extensions]
“Plugins”=“C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins”
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mozilla\Mozilla Firefox 3.0.10\extensions]
“Components”=“C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\components”
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mozilla\Firefox\extensions]
“jqs@sun.com”=“C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\lib\deploy\jqs\ff”
Well that’s not much help as there are no suspect entries and those other look legit (not to mention they are the same on my system when I ran it as a demo).
If you haven’t already got this software (freeware), download, install, update and run it and report the findings (it should product a log file).

- MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, On-Demand only in free version http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/malwarebytes/mbam-setup.exe, right click on the link and select Save As or Save File (As depending on your browser), save it to a location where you can find it easily later. - 2. SUPERantispyware On-Demand only in free version.
Edit: Interesting the similarity of your forum nick with the author of the gooredfix tool ;D
Bummer
I already have both of those programs and neither of them find anything. I have been having this problem for months now and it is actually getting worse. It used to be that one out of five clicks redirected me but now it’s everything I click on. I am just totally lost on what to do. Do you think it could be my google toolbar on firefox? Maybe I should uninstall firefox and reinstall it. What do you think?
Thanks
Personally I don’t think that will make a difference, but it won’t hurt to try.
But before you do pay a visit to OpenDNS.com and see how to set your internet connection to use their DNS servers as there are occasions where this could be DNS hijacking.
