GoogleDesktop.exe and avast.ini

Hi Guys

I am experiencing the same problem mentioned here in your beta program

http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=33634.msg282412#msg282412

I am running avast home edition build 4.8.1169, not sure if you did fix this but I definately get the popup for avast.ini trying to be changed from googledesktop.exe

any ideas as I dont want to allow googledesktop to modify it.

cheers

Paul

You can allow… the changing is not relevant for avast4.ini file.
But, indeed, this problem was solved in 4.8.1169… it’s strange that you’re experiencing it.
Can you try if the latest beta version solves this?
Download the updater (http://files.avast.com/files/beta/aswbeta.exe) and run it or go here for more information.

I’m having the same problem. 4.8.1169, Vista Ultimate SP1, Google Desktop 5.7.0802.22438-en-pb. I’ve even tried saying “yes” and the message pops up later. The problem does away when I “pause indexing”, in google desktop, but that goes away after 1 hr.

Same problem, same solution suggested by Tech (latest beta resolves this, 4.8.1187) or exclude avaast4.ini from indexing or wait a few days when the beta build end and a new program update should be released.

Thanks for the reminder on the exclude file/folder ability. I’d forgotten.

I don’t think it will work… I’ve tried last time. The only way will be disabling the avast self-defense module or, better, update to latest beta.
