green ticks on web pages

Avast is covering my web pages with green ticks.
Fine that it is checking links. Not fine that the ticks obscure the text I’m trying to read.

I know Avast wants me to feel warm and safe that it’s watching over me, but can this be configured to just alert me if there is a danger and not mess up the page or bother me otherwise?

It is lots of green ticks or nothing. Whilst I think it is a good idea it is imo too obtrusive so I don’t use it, the Avast! web shield still covers the browsing.

Apologies in advance for the stupid question; how I turn this off then?

No such thing as “stupid questions” - only stupid answers. Hope this isn’t one of the latter.

It is in the extensions/addons section of your browser, just disable it.

Tools > Add-ons > Extensions > avast! Online Security and click disable

Did that help?

OK. I was hoping there was a way to turn off just the display. Couldn’t find anything in the settings.
I didn’t realise it was actually a browser plugin, since I don’t recall Avast asking my permission to install that.

Avast is getting more obtrusive all the time.

You can’t turn off the display, its either have it on or not :stuck_out_tongue:

When installing using the custom install you will see “browser protection.” That is the AOS extension.
