Grimefighter worse product and now I can't start Windows!!!!

Why didn’t I read this forum before I bought this awful product!??

I bought Grimefighter for 3 PCs today and after it had done several things to my PC it then recommended I scan a system soo I clickled OK and my notebook rebooted but woudln’t strat. After the windows logo it just stayed black. I’m now I’m desperately trying to repair my notebook which won’t start and I’ve just had the blue screen of death error code stop: C000021a and I found a fix for this on yourtube but even that doesn’t work. I’m now using the auto start up repair but I’ve tried repairing twice and it won’t. I’m so upset as it’s my main PC and it has a lot of info I can’t lose. The last resort is to do a system restore, but I’m scared I’ll lose my files.

How can a trusted brand like Avast f****p so badly??!!

I want my money back!

Al you have to do is run GrimeFighter again and undo the changes it made.

it has a lot of info I can't lose
Smart people have a (recent) backup.

To get a refund you need to submit a ticket.

Thanks but I can’t run grimefighter because my notebook won’t start!!! I’m typing this frm my netbook.

My notebook which had Grimefighter installed won’t boot up at all and currently I’m running windows repair on it. I’ve tried booting from F8 too and chose boot from last known god configuration and that didn’t work either. If I turn the notebook off then on again I get the blue screen or a black screen that says start windows normally (I get the blue screen) or repair mode (just scans and isn’t repairing).

Yes I know I should have backed up my files but I didn’t so yes, I know that therefore I’m not smart.

Thanks I will request a ticket.

Scroll down to “If you cannot Boot the computer” and follow the instructions.
Let’s see if we can make it boot again.

Thanks I also saw this message when I was searching threads for help but I can’t make a bootable CD because I’m on a netbook that doesn’t have a CD drive…and my notebook that does is the one with the problem and won’t boot.

I’m pretty desparate now and have taken deparate measures. I am now using Acer Recovery Management to restore my system but with a back up option. The restore system has taken 17 minutes to back up 5% of my files… I’ll know in a few hours if this works.

Make a bootable usb stick.

Thanks but it’s too late as I’m half way through the system restore process.

It just gets worse.

The system restore process has failed. I got the message ‘windows couldn’t complete this installation. To install windws on this computer, restart the installation’.

I pressed OK and it says set up will continue after restarting your computer.

Then it reboots, I get the Windows logo…then it says Windows is starting services.

Then I get the ‘System Restore Process has failed message’

I just want to cry

Time for a recovery or a clean installation.
If you have a brand computer check the manufacturers website if your system has a recovery partition.

I have the recovery CDs that I made when I first got my Acer laptop. Apparently the Acer Inspire has a HD partition. Acer has an eRecovery stystem that you can access by pressing alt-F10 and you have two options: Rstore and back up data and restore which wipes all data. I chose the first option which has failed. Maybe I’ll try the 2nd option of restoring and wiping all data…?

I’m afraid that it is too late, but a other option is getting a linux live-cd and see if you can still access/backup your data.
Other than that is the wipe-/restore option or a clean installation.

So the clean system recovery worked and my notebook was restored to the factory settings. I’m relieved!

Luckily my all my photos music and photos were either backed-up or in a cloud and my most important docs in Dropbox. However, I will backing up day every from now on!

I’ve requested a ticket for a refund.

Grimefighter needs more development to be a reliable product. Download and install it at your own risk and remember to BACK UP EVERYTHING before you do!

I’m glad to hear that everything is working again and that you didn’t loose your data.

A tip for you:
Never keep a backup at the same place/house as where the system is.
The reason:
Let’s say your house burns down (I hope it never will but it can happen).
That would mean you loose your system as well as the backup(s).

As far as GrimeFighter…
avast has already created a new cleanup tool which (as they say) will be released soon.
I sure hope it really is a lot better and has less problems than GrimeFighter.
But we will see.

worse tool ever…lost my wireless adapter device…no blue light…on the initial re-boot clean that took over 12 hours then bam no internet and no wireless device…my number is 29f8860e-54c4-4dc2-a09e-effefd226da1 and can’t even get to any page to log a ticket…worse software ever and i want my money back and to get the wireless device back! Larry, if you want help you need to start your own thread.

I submitted a ticket on Friday and I still haven’t had a reply…anyone know how long they usually take to respond? The automated response to my ticket request doesn’t specify response times, it just says:
