This post is really a follow-up to my post of June 26th "[Unfortunately Having To Uninstall Avast".
First, I did run Avira for a time and everything was ok for a while but I then started to run into updating problems.
Now though my knowledge of computing is pretty basic, I could see in the Avira forums that there were quite a few
others experiencing the same problem.
Having sorted out the reason why Avast had previously been flagging C:\Windows\system32\mbamswissarmy.sys file
as "rogue" (I had been running Windows Defender/realtime protection enabled inadvertently with SuperAntispyware
Pro/protection enabled so there was an "overkill situation" leading to this conflict, I decided to revert back to Avast!
All is running well now, Defender obviously disabled and have switched realtime protection from SuperAntispyware
to MBAM. Incidentally, the tone of the Avast forums seem a lot friendlier than that of Avira!
Best Wishes, BobbyZee67 :D
Welcome back
Welcome back, yes support is something often forgotten when choosing a security application and perhaps one of the most important.
Glad to see you back as well. We try to be a nice informative group. Welcome back. ![]()
Nothing beats the AVG guys for friendliness though. ;D Don’t ever switch to AVG, if you found Avira unfriendly…

If you are on Windows XP, as long as you have SP3 installed and have full information about your rig in your signature, you will not receive a canned response in avast! forums.
In the umbrella forums they have canned responses for everything. I am sticking with avast!.
