Have W32 trojan

I ran Avast and program found the Win32:Rbot-HW {trj} I have it in the Chest. Now how do I remove this item?

Some added info…I have windows xp sp2… Could not find any clear definition from Avast on how to clean this item. Any help would be appreciated

If it is in the chest, it can’t do any harm anymore.
You can leave it there or just delete it from the chest.
Start Avast > Menu > Chest > Virus Chest.
It will show up there. Right click on it and you can delete it.

Eddy, I do thank you for that information. I will for the time being leave it in the chest… If you do happen to look back would I need to go to system restore and stop it and then delete the win32:rbot-hw and then go back to restore and uncheck and reboot…

System restore is crap imo. I never use it. I use a image of the drive and a good backup system.
This is much safer since system restore only backsup certain files. And what good will system restore do if your harddisk dies of if you are not able to get into it?

In fact, this trojan could be deleted immediatly.
If it’s in Chest, like any other file there, you can wait for a week or two just to be sure it’s not a legit file, with a false virus detection.

Thank you for this information. I will leave it in the Chest for the time being as suggested, and then will delete. Again, thank you.

Just curious Eddy–what prg. do you use to image your drive?
