I am all new to this. I have avast installed on my computer and have used it for about 18 months now without any problems. However lately it has become very slow and laborious and slows everything down. The icon is constantly spinning and all I can hear is the grinding of the computer in the background. I have numerous bsod’s stating bug code usb driver errors. I have had them constantly within the last week. I just get on to the internet and the computer crashes. I have just paused the anti virus about fifteen minutes ago and have not had one problem. Everything seems to be running smoothly and i can move from web page to web page without sitting watching a hanging screen for what seems hours. I am not into technical jargon and have looked at numerous forums for help. Dont understand any of them. Can anyone help please.
What version are you using? Latest is 4.8.1290

Right click on the avast blue “a” ball on the task Bar > click on “About avast! …” on the menu.
To update the avast program, again right click on the “a” ball > click on “Updating” on the menu > click on “Program Update.”
By the way, since it has been 18 months and avast is not up to date, did you re-register during the 14th month?
