Having issues with Ashserv on shutdown (issues inside)

This is a idea of the error that I get during shutdown
OX7758DDF from 0x000000 extended memory could not be written

And the error comes from Ashserv

any idea what the problem is ?

Hi,

I’ve got same problem time to time. I really don’t know the cause of this message.

For me it’s not a problem - I click “ok” or I wait a while and then system shut down itself.

Greetingz

What version (build) of avast! do you use?
Are there any unpXXXXXX files (X = some numbers) in your \Data\Log folder?

newest version updated on the 23rd

And no its only 0x0000000 in the message thats it

Can you try the build 4.5.531?

More informations here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=9007

  • Program: Updated
(previous version: 4.5.529, updated version: 4.5.531)
  • Vps: Already up to date
    (current version 0448-0)
  • Setup: Updated
(previous version: 4.5.529, updated version: 4.5.531)

Just to rule something out. Have you tested your ram?

I mean - if you browse to your avast! installation folder and check the Data\Log subfolder - are there any files called unpXXXXXXX there? They may contain more information about the problem.

I think I have the same problem during system shutdown, on XP sp2. But sometimes only. But then everything works fine…

Ok I checked and this is a few examples

Setiface problems could be solved by openning the \data\avast4.ini file and in the [Common] section, changing the item
Database=ODBC
to
Database=XML

Can you try and see what you get?

Anyway, can you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove
Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).

If this does not help, can you uninstall / boot / install / boot again?

Alrighty Tech I did what ya suggested and restarted and just to double check

  • Program: Already up to date
    (current version 4.5.536)
  • Vps: Already up to date
    (current version 0448-1)

I got yesterdays Update which downloaded flawlessly but Im still getting that AshServ prob every couple of times on shutdown and since others are having the issue could it be a problem with Avast ?

Sure it could…
Can you copy the error message? You will have to be fast… The error numbers are important. Maybe with them, someone from Alwil could do a test.
In fact, the avast! services are not shuting down properly… Something is wrong and probably it is an interaction between avast and your other programs… (maybe the firewall) :-\

I had the same problem on my laptop with the previous version of AVAST. I got a lot of suggestions here, but none would/could fix the “ashserv” error.
I gave up.
If there are any solutions for this I would like to see it myself and implement it.
Cheers

Ok this is the error I get.

X077FSDDF from 0X00000 from referenced memory could not be written

And the error concernes Ashserv

Once more: if you browse to your avast! installation folder and check the Data\Log subfolder - are there any files called unpXXXXXXX there? They may contain more information about the problem.

No Ive checked about a dozen times…nothing I dunno if his helps but.
