Having to reset my Network Adapter often

I don’t know what happened.

The day my friend started using a wifi dongle to connect a secondary PC to his router. He is having to reset the network adapter of his main PC which has Vista SP 2 and Marvell network adapter to get connection after it automatically gets disconnected…

He is having an Aztech modem

Any suggestions?

Distance from router to adapter might be too great or structural material (metal?) might be blocking signal. Fifty feet is usually max. Also it’s better to name network rather than use a WEP Key.

Hi Chris…

Is the main computer using a wireless adapter as well?

God bless

No…The main computer is connected to the Wireless Aztech modem via cable…

Hi Chris…

If I’m understanding correctly, he has his main computer connected to the modem itself but the second computer is connected to a router that is also connected to the modem? ???

God bless

Sorry for misplacing the word router with modem

Is it necessary to enable UpnP in his modem?

Do I need to try reinstalling IE 8?

How do I?

It is an ADSL wireless modem…

Hi Chris…

I’m not sure what to advise on this other than try installing a wifi adapter on his main PC to see if that corrects the problem. ???

God bless

Any way, Thanks!

I reset his modem to its default values. Now it seems to be working.

Just waiting to see if it gets disconnected again

I know this about UpnP

Thanks Yokenny

Since it is an FBI warning

I am going to disable it
