HELLO! I R ON UR SCREEN!

Meh. I am sure this has been asked if not many, a few times before.

How on earth do you get that small blue box in the corner of your screen to not come up after avast! updates itself? I know how to mute the sounds of it, but i want to know if there is a way to turn it off. There have been countless times where it decides to come up in the worst of times. 90% of that being while playing a game. The other 10% while watching a movie or something. I dont want to turn updating off, just so it wont inform me so powerfully.

Again, sorry if this has been asked before, i have tried looking, i just couldn’t find out how to turn it off. I also searched the first few pages on this forum, only to find out how to mute the sound. Its not anything detrimental to my computer or anything, certainly Windows automatic updates are far more troublesome, but all the same, it would be nice to not see it come up at all.

Oh, and if it matters, avast! Home edition running on XP.

PS: Sorry for the (newbish) topic title, I couldn’t think of anything sophisticated to briefly explain my problem. :-X

Thanks! I dont know why i didnt see that while searching for a way to turn it off before. But is there no way to turn it off completely? I play most games in full screen, but there are a few where i dont, and while playing games in my browser too. Though flash games arent nearly as important as others…

Thanks for that tip anyways, at least not I can play CoD4 and such without worrying about it. though I play guitar hero in not-full-screen mode, so i guess ill just have to cross my fingers. :-\

If you want to disable the blue sliding box altogether this can also be done:

Right click avast tray icon–>program settings -->update (basic) → click details -->uncheck ‘show sliding box after automatic update’

Thank you so much. That did it. I guess i didnt dig deep enough when looking for it…

No problem, glad to help

I guess while you’re there if you check “silent” in running mode you wont hear the updates either?

Yep, but since congratulations? Said that they already knew how to I didn’t think it was needed to mention it
