Hello Avast Forum members,
Today along with our new brand, we are launching Avast One to all Avast Forum members around the world.
Avast One is the free all-in-one service that combines our award-winning antivirus with VPN, speed-up, and security tools in one simple app to help you stay as private and as safe as you want. You can find a full list of Avast One features on the new product page: https://www.avast.com/en-us/avast-one#pc.
To protect our customers everywhere, Avast One also provides an integrated experience across the biggest OS platforms - Windows, MacOS, iOS and Android. As part of this Forum board you’ll find child boards for each platform where you can post your questions, feedback and ideas specific to each platform.
Global Forum users, please note that while Forum users can download Avast One in any country, for the moment, the app is available only in English. Other languages are coming in the following months. We’ll keep you posted here. Officially, the product is being offered only on the US, UK, Canadian and Australian markets during 2021.
Hey, can users from Indonesia use the Avast One Essential product or just a free antivirus ?
and whether avast one is only available in these 4 countries or will it be available to all countries in the world ?
Hello everyone. I am extremely happy that Avast One is finally released. And as for the people asking on where it is available right now well here’s my guess, and feel free to correct me on this but I think that the free version can be used anywhere, while for paying the premium version you need to be in a speciffic country that is outlined in the first post.
Considering that Avast One was initially only available in Australia others couldn’t get it. This was effectively an early limited release to test across more systems. Others couldn’t get it, since this is an expansion of that (and may be IP/Country restricted), I would guess support for it may not be available. As you can see the listed countries are predominately English speaking.
So I just wonder if the UI is currently English only.
By the time it is available to all this very extended test will have ironed out some hiccups.
Here’s the thing though, don’t you think that if this was just an early limited release it would also be mentioned on avast.com? As far as I can see, they’re promoting this everywhere already, just the UI is still in english.
I’m only working in the information already in the Forums about restricted release.
If you can imaging releasing a new product to all of the 400+ million Avast users would be a tough ask. Especially if you consider regular program update releases are in an update cycle of about two weeks to balance server loads, even if your Program updates are set to Automatic.
I would suggest you stick with what you are familiar with right now and give Avast One time to settle in.
Monitor the forums and see how the release over a myriad of Operating systems and user configurations goes.
I’m in no rush, hell I haven’t installed the last two incremental updates for Avast Free yet as I didn’t thinks any bug fixes or functions impacted my requirements. Though I’m more likely to update to avast! free 21.8.xxxx - https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=304024.0 - before Avast One.
So, the current Avast Free suits my needs and I don’t know if I need everything that is i Avast One free or from what I have seen if I can remove or disable components I don’t need.
Overall, Avast One is worse than current Avast at the moment. The UI is nice, but that’s it. Though, I would like to have an option for dark theme. I checked out Avast Free Essential, which is the free version.
It’s worse because,
No protection sensitivity option. I can’t increase the sensitivity to high anymore. It doesn’t have the option anywhere.
Can’t tweak scan settings. Like what to scan, scan priority, what to do with detected malware after scanning, etc.
geek:area is not present it seems. I can’t find a way to check this.
Unremovable bloatware includes VPN, Browser cleanup, PC Speedup, Software Updater, Disk cleaner and Driver Updater. There is no way not to remove them. Current Avast lets you choose what you want to install, but Avast One doesn’t. Can’t remove them afterwards either.
The unremovable bloatware like VPN, Cleanup Service and Driver Updater keeps their separate services running in the background.
Why keep them running when I’m not even using them! Disk cleaner and Driver Updater isn’t even usable in the free version. Then
why keep these services running for no reason wasting system resources.
There also needs to be a dark UI. The new UI is good but too white for my eyes. Dark theme should be an extra option at least.
So, overall a negative impression. It’s simply worse than the main Avast at the moment. Don’t remove features that users want & love and add things we don’t want.
