if I get a new computer and I do not have the disk from avast how can I get the remaining year that I paid for ?

Print out your licence information from the email you got when you registered.
You should have received attachment in your email that you should save to a USB Flash stick.
There are many helpful people here that will help you get avast! running.
What version of avast! do you have?

I have version 4.8, will check to see if I can find the e-mail I know I registered it
You can install the trial of Avast 5 Pro and then go to http://www.avast.com/resend-license.php, enter your information from the 4.8 version.
You will receive the license info for V5.
Yeah u can’t get a new key for 4.8 pro for some reason as I found out… And that resend license I believe is only for the free version… if u have a paid version like I had 4.8 pro then u will have to download Avast 5 Pro trial version and Create Ticket with tech support… They will email an attachment with the key which u can save to ur desktop and then when u open it --it automatically registers Avast 5 Pro
Well, look at screenshot: it is called “resend avast 5 license” and it says “enter your avast 4 pro edition key”.
So to me, it is to use for paid version, converting from 4 to 5.
Or am I wrong?
It appears u would be right if that screen could be found and if he wasn’t using 4.8 originally… When I went to the License Center under Support (and I just did so again to make sure my mind wasn’t going), I just see the Free Avast license resend and can’t find that nice screen in your response above—I think if that could be used then Tech support would have just told me where to find that license re-send on their site rather than sending me the attachment with the license key…

well yes Your link works very well–I just can’t find it independently on the website----IF I could have found same on the website THEN I never would have needed to post my problem here from last week… AND why did u not provide that link to ME when I needed it–lol Also no one in the forum ever indicated that one should just forget reinstalling Avast 4.8 pro as u can’t get a new key for it----U have to download Avast 5 Pro which is also what tech support finally told me…
So OP apparently if u download the Avast 5 pro from the webside—where u scroll down to the language variations–u can download the trial version and then using the nice Link provided to you above–U can enter your old license # from your prior app and u will get a new license key for Avast 5 Pro

Well I made the suggested changes but my signature is the same as my user name----OH and I saw where DavidR also gave a link to a poster to go from 4.8 pro license to 5—everybody got sent the info except me—I had to wait 3 days until Tech emailed an attachment with the new license key…
OK ur older but I think Zynd needs new glasses and I don’t think CharleyO can read at all based upon his info in my own post neither of which provided that nice link for the license which apparently is not readily available in the License Center
Zynd’s eyes are perfectly alright.
I checked your topic again: at the point I entered the discussion, you had stated that you had installed 4.8 again and wanted a new key for 4.8 - not a conversion for 5 since version 5 would not run on your system.
The link only converts, it does not resend 4.8 keys.
Consequently I advised you to contact the sales-dep at avast in order to get a new key.
I feel like I did most of it right. :
If DavidR avast! Überevangelist can put his system information in his signature then it is good enough for me as well.
The licence issue will be resolved.
