I’ve been trying to install Avast home version and I keep getting this error message at the end of the installation process “There was an error while completing the setup process” The log says:
22.08.2009 11:12:40 package: IsFullOkay: setif_av_pro-547.vpu - not okay (doesn’t exist)
22.08.2009 11:12:40 package: IsFullOkay: setif_av_pro-547.vpu - not okay (doesn’t exist)
I’ve tried uninstalling from the control panel and in safe mode using the uninstall tool, but it still will not load! Any suggestions? I’m getting desperate.
I previously had Avast and loved it until it stopped downloading the updates for the virus database. I got a setiface error when I tried to fix that problem, so I came here and searched the forum for how to fix that. The advice seemed to be to uninstall using the tool on the Avast site and reinstall Avast. The uninstall worked fine, but now I can’t reinstall. I’ve tried safe mode, administrator, turning off the firewall and nothing works. I keep getting the same error message at the end of the installation process.
Uninstall avast from Control Panel (if possible). If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after that.
Use (run) the avast! Uninstall Utility saved on 1. If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after you’ve run it.
Install avast! using the setup saved on 2. It will be good to accept the boot time scanning. Boot.
After seeing this, it makes me think that permissions got screwed up in the registry for some reason. Being an administrator, you should have access to those areas, so the installation should be possible.
You might have to open the registry editor and give yourself and the “system” account permission to those registry areas.
If you’re not comfortable doing things like that, I don’t really know what to suggest.
