HelP?! Fix Now button doesn't

I think the title says it all…? :o I’m a relative computer noob; I don’t think there is much else I can do without your help/direction. ???

:frowning: I rebooted my computer, as I do sometimes when I am dissatisfied with how things are running. Upon reboot, my computer wouldn’t finish loading/activating avast! and everything else that loads after it wouldn’t load either. I would try to disable the internet as is my custom when I feel threatened, but my computer would entirely freeze at that point. I would have to shut down by holding the start button awhile. After trying this three times, FINALLY, (Avast with redX, SAS loaded, as did the internet connection) I was then able to disable my internet connection (the last tray icon I am used to seeing at this point also failed to load: ATI). I then hit control-alt-delete, and looked at all the processes running. I did a search on each one using another computer, and decided that nothing looked alarming. I tried the ‘FIX NOW’ button (several times), which fixed nothing (firewall is running, but no other shields are operational). I ran scans with MBAM (nothing malicious found), and SAS (only tracking cookies were found)… but that’s beside the point, maybe. How do I get my avast! running happily again? I miss it twirling in the tray corner.

First, try a Repair.

Go to Control Panel>>Programs&Features or Add/Remove Programs, depending on OS.

Then find Avast! on the list, click on it and choose the Repair option.

Thanx for such a prompt suggestion… trying it now.

;D YAY!!! HUZZAH!!! IT WORKED!!! ;D

Happy Dance in unison with twirling icon
So simple it almost seems silly that I asked.
It ‘fixed’ it, then I rebooted; and all is well.

Thank You soooooo much Gargamel360!
If you weren’t a wizard, I’d call you one.
Pet Azrael for me, eh? 8) ~Nom

Np, glad to help.

If you remember, Gargamel never petted Azrael. So it would be more appropriate for you to tell me to give him a good kick in the rear. ;D
