I am new here and I’ve just looking for a way to change my password on my Avast Internet Security Software! I recently had to remove the program because it wouldn’t start up. My PC was attacked and I end up having to remove it altogether. I’ve reinstalling it but I can’t seem to get in without password that I had when I first free version of AVAST I used a few years ago! I since then have a new Pro AIS version and license for my software. But I can’t update or grade the license because of password preventing me to do so. So if anyone can instruct me how I can get in to change password so I can put in the license I really be thankful. I like to get all I can from my software to protect my PC. Thank you in advance, and have a good year to all.
The only way to resolve your problem of forgetting your password is to uninstall Avast and do a clean install unfortunately. You need to reinsert the license again. If you do put a password on it this time, please put it in a secure place that you will remember.
Go to Control Panel and uninstall Avast through Add/Remove Programs if possible and reboot.
If Step 4 fails, boot into Safe Mode (hit F8 repeatedly) and run the Avast Uninstall Tool. Uninstall all previous products and versions of Avast at this time.
Reboot.
Install the newest version of Avast and reboot.
Get Internet access and register your copy or add the license key for AIS.
Update the Avast definitions.

I am truly sorry it took this long for me to post this. Actually I just saw your posting earlier tonight. I have totally forgot to come back here to see if there was any other messages after the first day I posted. BUT I must say THANK YOU! THANK YOU! for giving me some better clues how to fix my problems I had with my PC and this program. I have been trying to get help from Avast! support by email for over a week now. They haven’t been much of a help to me except to tell me what I have done on my own before I requested their help and services. In a nutshell, you gave me some hints and clues, enough to make me think of some things I can try and cause me to have success in retrieving program and restoring password. No matter how many time I have uninstalled program and reinstalled it again, I couldn’t get into my avast without this so called password even to put in my license. But I took one step a little more different then what you and others give me to do. Thank you for those clues and hints, I’m now able to changed my email and got program,working and happy now. I really owe it to your vast knowledge for these clues and hints, I found that I had two different versions of avast!in my PC.
But now I only have one and all good now, THANKS!
