Try running DrWeb CureIT! in Safe Mode.

If you boot to normal mode, is there time to issue this command:

Click Open > Run
In the blank field type shutdown -a and click OK

If you’re getting a 30 second countdown before the shutdown wait until the countdown starts to hit OK. Then, if this works, run a HJT log from normal mode and post that.

No it’s not sasser and it restarts immediately.I’m trying various programs now and hope this will work.Thank you very much!

Neron, sorry the hijack, but I’d love if mauserme posts more about command-line options for shutdown, hibernate, restart, logoff and so on… 8)

shutdown is a dos command that can handle logoffs and restarts too. Since its dos its consistant through the various flavors of Windows. Here’s a link to the parameters that can be used

http://www.computerhope.com/shutdown.htm

I think hibernate is a higher level, Windows command that doesn’t work from the command line (I could be wrong). But there might be some command line tricks for this in XP.

SuperAntiSpyware has detections for Win32.LoadAdv.gen. I think it can be installed in safemode

Thanks mauserme, you’re always helpful… 8)

Anytime.

Sorry it was a little terse. I was wrapping up my day at work (they still expect me to concentrate on their stuff … :  )
