I just installed Avast! free antivirus and whenever I click it something comes up saying the following:
C:Pprogram Files\Alwil Software\Avasr5\AvasrUI.exe
“The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorect. please see the application event log for more details.”
I had Trendo Micro but the subscription expired. I’m pretty sure when I downloaded Avast! it downloaded McAfee too(unless I had it and didn’t realize). Anyone know what I can do?
Not sure it is my girlfriends laptop. Is there any way to delete avast!? I tried the program they posted to delete it on the board but it did not work…

You may also want to check while in Safe Mode or just run the uninstaller tools in normal mode for Trend Micro and McAfee (not for Avast…this needs to be done in Safe Mode) to make sure you do not have remnants of left over antivirus (AV) programs as any resident AV will cause conflicts with another.

After using ANY uninstaller tool, you have to reboot your machine. After uninstalling, then you can do a clean install of Avast > reboot > update definitions and register.
