Hi everyone, posting this from my daughter’s tablet so apologies for the brevity
Tonight the avast quick scan informed me that wininet.dll was infected with win32:malware-gen and recommended a boot scan. It is now giving me the option to delete, repair (tried unsuccessfully) move to chest(tried - warned it was in a Windows folder) or ignore. I’m not sure what to do, I’ve left it on the screen and was hoping for some advice. I don’t want to wreck windows by moving the file
Thanks
Jamie

Clean, Quarantine, or Delete?

Thanks. In the end I went through all the options and none worked. It kept saying ‘file name not found’. I’m guessing avast had already sent it to the chest and the boot scan was detecting the file in there.
make sure avast is updated…reboot and scan again…is it still there?
Avast is updated
I rebooted and scanned again and came up clear.Should I still post up AdwCleaner,Malwarebytes,OTL and aswMBR logs? I don’t want to waste anyones time but it’d be good to KNOW everythings clean
thanks
Jamie
