Help to remove Win32:bprotect-d trj

Hi,

I’ve been reading the posts at https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=145013.0 where TwinHeadedEagle helped to remove this trojan horse. Could TwinHeadedEagle please help me too? I have run the FRST and attach the FRST.txt and Addition.txt. Thank you so much!

Hi

May I help you instead of TwinHeadedEagle?

Dear Naat,
Thank you so much for your help! And sorry for posting another message. I am new and wasn’t sure… I will try ComboFix tomorrow. Kindest regards, Paulfma.

Dear Naat,

I am very sorry, it seems the wrong FRST files were attached in my previous post - they were the log files generated before JRT and AdwCleaner were run. I reran JRT, AdwCleaner and FRST again today, and also Avast. Avast did not find any infection anymore. Could you please kindly inspect the log files again and advise whether I still need to run ComboFix or do anything else?

My sincere apology for the mistake! (as I have to work remotely to help my friend, it’s a bit difficult…)

Kindest regards,
Paulfma

Hi Naat,

Thank you very much for your help. I’ve uninstall Yahoo Search Protection and rerun FRST. Please find the two files attached.

We don’t seem to see any other problems.

Thank you so much for your help.

Paulfma

OK, now some probably last fix and we need to rectify your security software.
Also please refrain from using any software by IOBit. This company is known for stealing intelectual properties of Malwarebytes’ and has rather bad reputation around here.

Multiple Anti-Virus Software

I see that you’re running more than one antivirus program at the same time.

[]Avast
[
]Micorsoft Security Essentials

This is a bad idea.
Using more than one AV will not give you any better protection, but may cause interferences between them, slow your machine or even completely block your OS. You should choose only one to stay, and remove any others. Think carefully and stay with only one AV. It should be done before any other steps in malware removal will be taken.

Please uninstall all but one using the tools you may find in the following link: Uninstallers (removal tools) for common Windows antivirus software.

Dear Naat,
Thank you very much for your help! But I don’t seem to be able to uninstall MSE. It’s not listed in the Installed Program list and I can’t find its keys in the registry. There is no running process associated with it. Should I still do what you advised? Thank you, Paulfma.

have you tried this fixit from Microsoft?
