Help - Trojan problem

Hi, I have a serious problem with a trojan.

Avast has alerted me that there is a trojan on my computer. The problem is, when I try to rename/delete/move or use any of the Avast solutions I get a message saying:

“The Process cannot access the file as it is being used by another process”

I’ve tried searching these forums, but didn’t find anything that helped.

The trojan also appears to stop me from running virtually all my applications: Firefox, IE, Taskmanager, Itunes etc. Basically rendering my computer completely useless.

All these applications generate the same message when I try to run them:

This application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000022). Click on Ok to termintae the app.

Please help, I don’t have a clue what to do, I have tried a system restore but experience th same problems. I don’t want to have to format the PC.

Hi Kamron,

Have you tried a boot time scan with avast!? Right click the scanner screen, select ‘schedule a boot time scan’ and reboot when requested.

Have you tried the usual free anti-Trojan scanners?-

AVG Anti-spyware (requires Win2k/XP):

a-Squared Free:

Ad-Aware:

Spybot Search & Destroy:

thanks for your help. the boot time scan appeared to work.

Generally, virus infect the system restore files and replicate themselves in the future.
If a virus is replicant (coming and coming again), you should:
I suggest you disable System Restore on Windows ME or Windows XP. System Restore cannot be disabled on Windows 9x and it’s not available in Windows 2k. After boot you can enable System Restore again.
