A friend who did not know about avast! has accidentally loaded “xp antivrus 2012” which is a virus. Does anyone know how to disable this enough to get into the avast! site? Thanks Col

Thank you, you are a star. I have been with avast! for so long I had no idea. Whatever this thing is it disabled her ability to use IE or firefox normally. But we did find a way to download avast! eventually. 
I know avast! doesn’t necessarily catch everything immediately but my experience is that it does a lot quicker than anything else I have used.
