I am runnings Avast on Windows Vista.
When I go try to get on the internet, it will not let me get on. I have to go to the Avast thing (on the bottom of the screen) and turn off the shield controls. Is that normal?
Also, I cannot get the software to update. It says it cannot connect to the server. I have DSL.
Is this a sign I should give up on it ?
Which is your firewall? Your old antivirus (before avast)?
It is NOT normal. avast should only scan and not block browsing. Also your computer should be infected.

Good Morning,
My name is Carlos Cortez, I´m from Nicaragua, I use Avast Antivirus 5 Free
Edition, Since 15 days ago, there is a virus that Avast can´t detect, even when
I update the program o Test the online Scanner, Norton antivirus can detect it,
and other Antivirus Software.
Question is how users can send some virus files to Avast Website to analize
them and after this kind of risk is include into the current update of the
avast Antivirus service.
The File size of the virus is 1372 KB, take the name of recicle.exe and the
name of the files into the root directory of usb´s flash drives.
It´s a kind to improve Avast Antivirus software by the users comunity.
Thanks,
Carlos Cortez

Thank you Carlos. All is good with my computer…
The Norton Removal Tool uninstalls all Norton 2003-2010 products from your computer.
(If possible) Remove Symantec products through Add/Remove programs from Control Panel. Boot.
Use Norton Removal Tool for Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 or Norton Removal Tool for Windows 98/Me . Boot.
Install avast! (or repair the installation) and boot.
