Hello,I got this today and I think it is the same message I got several weeks ago but not the same site linked to it. I was told to delete my icons as it attached itself to it. I even got it on the same site as before.

thanks so much!

I was told to delete my icons as it attached itself to it.
told by who?

if you have played with Essexboy before, then you know what logs he need to do his work

yes thank you! I was not sure if I am to delete the icon again or not , he was working to find the source of the issue. I was not sure if this is totally unrelated to my first issue or not.

Thank you!

Hi no I have still not been able to find out how they do that

Run this programme and then run an OTL scan for me

Please download to your desktop Short cut cleaner
Then run.

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/sc%20cleaner.JPG

When the Shortcut Cleaner has finished scanning your hard drive it will create a log file on your desktop called sc-cleaner.txt and then display it.
Please post that log

THEN

Download OTL to your Desktop
Secondary link

[*]Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/OTL_Main_Tutorial.gif

[*]Select All Users
[*]Under the Custom Scan box paste this in

netsvcs
BASESERVICES
%SYSTEMDRIVE%*.exe
/md5start
services.*
explorer.exe
winlogon.exe
Userinit.exe
svchost.exe
winsock.*
/md5stop
CREATERESTOREPOINT

[*]Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
[*]When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
[*]Post both logs

Thanks here is the first one

Thank you,I never use IE. I always use firefox as it works better with Vista for me but so far today I have not seen that popup again on the site I saw it on.

I was following your directions for the otL and my computer went to the blue screen and seemed to freeze. I had to shut down manually. When I booted back up my computer was doing an free avast upgrade that took forever and I noticed I have these on my desktop

desktop.ini
desktop.ini
avast.jpg
google crome which I don’t want

Thanks for your help and I will wait for your reply.

Uninstall Chrome via control panel, the desktop.ini files I will re-hide

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

A good workman always cleans up after himself so…The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

Run OTL and hit the cleanup button. It will remove all the programmes we have used plus itself.

We will now confirm that your hidden files are set to that, as some of the tools I use will change that
[*]Click Start.
[*]Open My Computer.
[*]Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
[*]Select the View Tab.
[*]Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Do not show hidden files and folders.
[]Click Yes to confirm.
[
]Click OK.

Clear Restore Points

Go Start > All Programmes > Accessories > System tools
Right click Disc Cleanup and select run as administrator
Select More Options tab
Press Sytem Restore and Shadow Copies Cleanup button

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/disc%20clean.JPG

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programmes:

http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/7729/mbamicontw5.gif
Malwarebytes.

Update and run weekly to keep your system clean

Download and install FileHippo update checker and run it monthly it will show you which programmes on your system need updating and give a download link

If you use on-line banking then as an added layer of protection install Trusteer Rapport

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated. To keep your operating system up to date visit
[*]Microsoft Windows Update

To learn more about how to protect yourself while on the internet read our little guide How did I get infected in the first place ?Keep safe

thanks, I click start and do not see my computer but see computer, thats not it I don’t think.
Thanks

OK go to control panel and select Folder options

Thanks for your patience, I am trying to do this now
Clear Restore Points

Go Start > All Programmes > Accessories > System tools
Right click Disc Cleanup and select run as administrator
Select More Options tab

I can’t find the Select More Options tab after administrator and its not there it only shows the OS drive or the recovery drive
Thank you!

When it pops up at the first prompt select OK after it has done some calculations the tabs will appear… Methinks I need to amend the destructions on that :-[

It worked perfect thank you.

I spoke too soon I got this again on same site I frequent daily.

It was fine for a few weeks after I deleted that firefox icon and I know others had the same issue.

I only frequent the same sites daily and I am very careful on doing searches too.I rarely download or watch videos either so I don’t know why I keep getting this popup.

Does the popup mean I am infected or could be infected?

I already have malwarebytes but will install the other one too.
I do not do on line banking.

I have a firewall and my avast is updated off and on all day.

I thank you for your help.Your always very nice and give great directions. I appreciate your help more than you know and all of you help others so much.

The site is probably infected … Could you let me know which one it is … Break the link though

sure
ww wrealtor.com

so should I stay off of it. I didn’t get it after I deleted my firefox desktop link that last time until yesterday.

also the last time I did that popup on a couple of other sites once but mostly realtor.com
