Hijacked

I’m running Mac OS 10.11, El Capitan. I downloaded the free Avast version on 6-2-2016 and immediately ran a scan. A number of issues were found and corrected. Today when I booted up I experiencing difficulty with Internet server issues… Difficulty contacting certain servers. More troublesome is I’m having difficulty establishing contact with my outgoing mail server (gmail).

I phone AVAST support and was informed that non-guaranteed help would be available for $179.00. Sounds a lot like a hijack scam to me. THERE IS NO FREE LUNCH…CAVEAT EMPTOR!
