hips software

dont know if many of you use hips software but i been trying this free program out on 1 of my pcs and i think its pretty good and its the free version
pro security software
http://www.proactive-hips.com/

Is it really a good one?
What about SSM (http://www.syssafety.com/)?

It’s safe and pretty good (well, if you don’t mind dismissing the ubiquitous popups ;)).

Well the siteadvisor page isn’t that much of a problem, mainly complaining about links to another site which is suspect for adware, etc. http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/proactive-hips.com

Bri, care to comment on how you found the ubiquitous popups that Vlk mentions ?

Did you use the software?
Can you compare with other ones, like SSM?
Won’t Comodo firewall have this feature in the future (next version 3)?
Won’t avast 5 have this feature also?

Did you use the software?

Yes, I had it here (for a while).

Can you compare with other ones, like SSM?

It is functionally equivalent.

Won't Comodo firewall have this feature in the future (next version 3)?

I heard something - but I don’t care too much…

Won't avast 5 have this feature also?

Not exactly… but it will have something substantially better instead. :stuck_out_tongue:

Cheers
Vlk

What?
Why do you love mysteries?

i left it in learning mode for a day ran the pc as normal and you dont get alot of popups and theres an install mode for when installing and uninstalling programs,i tried ssm but it was to confusing for me this is alot nicer for me,plays well with avast no slowdowns as i can see,try it its free

reading vlk comments i cant wait for avast 5

Thanks for the feedback bri.

I’m guessing it will be something like Cyberhawk.

Yes it seems to be…

Hi,
I’m thinking to try Dynamic Security Agent
There is someone here in forum that has tried it, or know it? If so, I’m interested about your opinions.
Seems to be very light on memory and very effective, to be an HIPS and to be free, looking at this report of Matousec

Strange… it’s rated into the firewalls ::slight_smile:
Is it compatible with avast and another firewall running?

http://www.privacyware.com/DSA_UserGuide.pdf
and http://www.privacyware.com/DSA_Product_Sheet.pdf
look at this tech…looks like a firewall of sorts…they are pdf files 8)
and i sent them a support ticket asking them about being a firewall of sorts http://www.privacyware.com/support_ticket.html

Right now… I’m waiting for Comodo firewall 3 with HIPS support 8)

Right now... I'm waiting for Comodo firewall 3 with HIPS support

Hi Dan -
Thanks for your note and interest in Privacyware and DSA. DSA does include
many features of a desktop firewall, but is primarily differentiated by its
behavioral components that deliver a proactive zero-day defense against
Trojans, viruses, spyware, rootkits and other malware. Many DSA customers
run the application alongside popular firewall programs. DSA is integrated
with Privacyware’s desktop firewall, Privatefirewall, but many other
firewall programs do not include the type of functionality that DSA offers.

Hope this information helps.

Best regards

still not gonna try it-wait till something i know of and is reliable-comodo 3…

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v190/bob3160/ShellFTP/DSA.png

Dynamic Security Agent ( DSA) is currently running on my system
and getting along well with:

  1. avast! 4.7.1001
  2. Winpatrol Plus 11.3.2007
  3. Prevx 2.0
  4. Comodo Firewall Pro 2.4.18.184
  5. ProSecurity 1.30 Free Edition
  6. Windows Defender 1.1.15930
  7. ClamWin Antivirus 0.90.2.1

At this point i believe this to be overkill but they are all working well together
and I’m not experiencing any significant system drains or slow downs.
Hope that helps.

Absolutely Bob!! Thank you very much for your reply

I was above all interested to know if “as they say”, DSA can works fine side by side with a firewall (without compatibility problems). And important to me, with no high memory usage.
So now no more doubts if try it or not…I’ll try it

Good sign fast reply of DSA team to Drhayden1 mail!
So, thanks to you too Drhayden
