Go to Start > Run and paste these commands into the open field hitting OK after each:
sc stop MyWebSearchService
sc delete MyWebSearchService
REBOOT
Then run online scan with Kaspersky, to see if anything nastier is lurking
Seems like you dont have any antivirus installed? Try avast. It wont disappoint you.
it came with Norton 360, its still active. Should I turn it off when running the online scanner?
I don’t know about turning it off when running an online scan, but if you decide to remove Norton 360, now or later when the rial expires, uninstall it completely and run the removal tool before installing Avast.
(You should previously have downloaded Avast, for offline install, since you should be offline when uninstalling/installing AV software.)
Unfortunenatly its not a trial…
The online scan, was just a suggestion. I never turn my AV off. If your happy with paying for Norton, then leave it alone
I like avast more, its my mom’s laptop I told her when Norton ran out to give it to me to install avast but she forgot. I will take care of that infamous adware tomorrow. BTW, can you check this log too? It’s attached
Nothing seems serious except for the need to configure Vista’s firewall to enable Outbound Protection.
Its got Online Armor.
A. I found it. Online Armor.
Sorry if I might have been mistaken for having no active firewall cause I’m not that familiar to OA.
I cant find the entries ine the HJT console but They are in the notepad log, it seems like they are skipped or something. oh yeah run doesn’t appear in the start menu. It’s a windows vista home premium.
