I just downloaded and installed (I hope) the latest Avast Mobile Security (and Anti-Theft) for Android from Google Play store. It runs fine, ok, ok, but there are advertisements everywhere (Waze GPS navigation now). It is hard not to hit advs when using AMS. Is there any way how to avoid them? Any paid version (cheap one) or?
Well that’s just sad. I’ve always been a supporter of Avast and would gladly pay to clean out the advertising crap but since this isn’t an option… I say goodbye Avast.
I came to this topic because of a related concern. I don’t mind ads in a free product, as a whole, and I’ve been a fan of Avast, but recently on the mobile app home screen I’ve been confronted with the most appalling, blatant, scareware ads. These are so bottom of the barrel it makes me lose faith in Avast. Do they not vet this stuff?
I think it is because of the deal that avast has with Google.
avast put the ads for their paid products in it and Google decides what other ad is shown for a product in their store.
I’m not entirely sure, but it would not surprise me if I am correct with this.
As for the ad for the battery saver…
Only a idiot would come up with something like that.
A battery saver that prevent infections ?
Come on, they might just as well say something like :
“never turn your phone on if you want to save your batteries life”
or
“best tool to avoid infections… No download needed… Simply press the power off button and never use the phone again”
