I keep getting a pop up window that says my Dell WLAN wireless card has stopped working and someone suggested that I check to see if I have two firewalls running. I know my Windows firewall is on but I can’t figure out how to tell if the AVAST firewall is on. How do I find it and disable it. I only need one firewall.
Windows firewall works perfectly fine with the avast firewall, if you wanted to turn one off i would disable the windows firewall, what is your system- xp, vista, win 7?, what version of avast are you running ?
Try to turn off the windows firewall

I need to find out more information from the op here before you start supplying assistance
Of course, I agree with you. We should know
- version of avast
- system
- hardware (Dell WLAN wireless card?) maybe some built-in protection, e.g. firewall…
an so on
How do I find it and disable it. I only need one firewall.what avast! version do you have ?
avast! free and pro does not have a firewall, only avast! internet security have firewall
Thank you all for your answers. I have the free version of Avast and I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop with Vista Home Basic O/S. The real reason for this question is because my Dell WLAN wireless card has stopped working and I cannot connect to the internet without being wired. Some suggested that AVAST might be the problem but I have been using AVAST free version for more than a year and this problem just started about a month ago. Dell wants $129 for a tech to help my on the phone. If anyone has any idea’s about what I can do about this, the main problem, I would greatly appreciate it.
Tried your friend Google ???

It seems that everyone has failed in asking what may be a very relevant question, what version number of avast are you using, avast 5.1.889 is the latest regular release ?
The reason I ask is I believe there was something like this in an earlier avast build.
Edit: This was in build 5.1.864 and was resolved in 5.1.884 or 5.1.889, so ensure you have the latest build, do a manual program update if you haven’t got 5.1.889.
