HOW DISABLE AVAST FREE BLOCKING ONE PROGRAM

Hey Guys. Have one program that I need to run once in a while on one PC1 (have PC1 and PC2) but unless I turn avast off first, the program will not run.

Hopefully simple way to trace down the lockout on that program? Pretty sure there is but forgot how to do it.

Thanks, Jim

The question is what it is being blocked.
If it is normal application avast will (or at least should) not block it.
If this is the case report it to avast.

Its not malware. Its what you termed a “normal” program. It a legit Firefox addon. Avast apparently got paranoid just on the one PC1 cos on PC2 Avast leaves it full alone.

I would like my question answered please, Thks, Jim

Does avast give a message when blocking, what does it say?

Right click avast tray icon > manage shields > pause shields

says nothing. when I disable avast the Fx addon starts working again. I really need the core feature of avast that cause the problem not to just turn avast on off and that. thks

Then use the link Eddy posted above and report it, alternative submit a support ticket >> https://support.avast.com/support/tickets/new

when avast zings a program it thinks it a problem, there is a place to look to see those programs avast zinged. where is that please.

If this is a Firefox add-on (which sounds very different to what you said in your first post), then this would appear that you have the run the Browser CleanUp, as it is the Browser CleanUp that checks browser add-ons, etc.

I think that before anyone can answer your question we are going to need more detailed information. A screenshot of this ‘zinging’ would be extremely useful.

you know what I know or I would have told you about it. the addon just started having problems working is all. Nothing existed to take a screenshot of other than a Fx program that did not fully function. Does anybody here know where this place is I am asking about is so I can look for myself?

vault is the word. gads guys all that jabber and no “vault” suggestion. Geeze!

What is the difference between PC1 and PC2 ?
OS/SP ?
Avast version ?
Firefox version ?
Add-on version ?
etc.

Fair enough Eddy:

“while on one PC1 (have PC1 and PC2)” meant PC #1 and PC #2
win7 x64 (updates current)
Avast (current)
Fx browser: (current)
Fx addon program: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fvd-synchronizer/?src=search

thnk, J

Are the avast version the same build and having the same VPS version ?
Are the settings both systems the same in avast ?

As there is no problem on one system while there is on the other there has to be a difference somewhere I would say.

Avast is just plain version as it is offered online w/o frills on both pc’s.

Your: “As there is no problem on one system while there is on the other there has to be a difference somewhere I would say.”

That logic of yours (above), to me, is perfect. My statement: “Avast apparently got paranoid just on the one PC1 cos on PC2 Avast leaves it full alone.” adopts the same thought pattern as yours, so I was looking for what was in the vault to see what happened but its fully empty. :o

Its not an easy one In know. BTW same things happens in safe mode with networking on both PC’s. Anything you can think of might lead to the solution so shout out plz. Never know is most always worth at least a quick look-see when it comes from an experienced mind. J

You mean the application won’t run in safe-mode either if avast is installed ?
That would be really strange as avast doesn’t even work in safe-mode.

I uninstalled avast. rebooted of course. Reinstalled the latest Avast version and voila the problem disappeared. Go figure. The rule is no matter how good a program is it is always subject to at least some error once in a while.

Thanks all who were being helpful especially Eddy. To the would-be gurus who were not at all, you did not impress anyone with you great wisdom and knowledge but rather just exhibited you childish desire to be noticed.

Marked solved. Enjoy life to you all, Jim

And another problem less in the world.
