Hi Guys

Not possible as the server changes a lot.
But why not simply disable (not recommended) the updates in Windows ?
Why you want to block windows update?
One very good reason is that who knows, MS certainly don’t, what effect installing the Windows updates might have whilst the PC is being used for other purposes. Always best to close everything and install them that way and, of course, at a convenient time.
Another very good reason is that you get a choice about what **** MS install on your system. Half the updates MS provide are optional and either irrelevant for your system or data collecting for their own purposes. This month’s optional updates included one of those latter ones they’ve been trying to foist on us for over a year.
I check for such stuff every time new updates appear.
But as I understand it you can only delay important Windows 10 updates and, until recently, even that only applied to certain versions.
When you have these now bundled monthly Windows roll-outs your control of updates has been very much reduced and if there are problems you’re not going to be alone. Of course Windows updates puts in a restore point before install which is some safety net. That is as long as your AV doesn’t include a “Self Defence Module” which it is reported can interfere with using that.
On W10 you can set the “busy hours” so you won’t get updates during that time.
MS has changed the way updates are rolled out.
You now only get updates that are relevant for your system.
You can’t disable security updates on W10 Home, but you can on other versions.
I don’t believe the Busy Hours, stops the auto updates as such, but would certainly stop any reboot after an update. Whilst setting busy hours to 00:05 to 23:55 may put a crimp in it, I just have mine set from 15:00 to 23:00.
I have set my Networking & Internet > WiFi > select your network WiFi connection update and I have set as a Metered Connection. For me on this win10 laptop system only connects to my network bu WiFi. So stops updates until I actually elect to manually check for updates.
Delivery Optimization won’t automatically download or send parts of updates or apps to other PCs on the Internet if it detects that you're using a metered connection.
If the user only uses WiFi to connect, then this is in effect a means of stopping it.
Hopefully this option won’t have changed in the Creators update, which I have yet to download.
In Creators Update, They will just download Updates required to Keep Windows Running Smoothly even if on a Metered Connection, So doesn’t entirely block Windows updates in Creators edition unforuately either
I normally update manually when everything is closed, if I forget then it may download autoly and remind me it needs to restart at some point, but overall it works good, been running Windows 10 Since came out in 2015, First with Pro on my old PC, then briefly on Windows 10 Home on current system, then upgraded to Pro again.
Avast doesn’t interfere with the updating that I seen
Since I made the changes to updating and the metered connection, so far I haven’t had a single WU auto update, I have had to do a manual update.
I haven’t been offered the Creators update and I didn’t do the manual update to the creators update that was available some time ago.
I Updated manually to The Creators update myself on August 5th, no machines here use the Metered Connection though, but looked up the info regarding it to add to this post earlier, I always tend to update manually on every release, not the type to wait lol
Running pretty well now though, was rocky a bit at first with AMD video drivers and a few other issues, but all fine now with Avast and all other programs
I’m getting a ‘Back to the Future’ moment. I don’t think that the Creators update was even a twinkle in Microsoft’s eye on August 5th (last year) even on insiders update.
Metered connection will NOT stop all updates.
All I can say is that for me it has so far.
EDIT: Considering the patch Tuesday update was meant to have exploit fixes, I would have though would be a category that would override any settings. It hasn’t so far.
Came out Oops April 5th 2017 LOL, I must’ve been thinking of older update or something when I originally posted–oopsy Think I was thinking of the Anniversary update in my first post, but did update immediately soon as it was available for early official installs via the Media Creation tool
