How do I get rid of this Avast logo that's stuck to the side of my screen?

Just today, this icon started showing up on my screen of my Android phone. I don’t want it there. It gets in the way of me doing things. I’m constantly having to slide it out of the way in order to do what I want to do.

What do I have to do to get rid of this blasted thing?

Hi,

Can you please provide us with a screenshot? Please see this article on how to generate a screenshot. https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/Create-screenshot

I have a screenshot, but there doesn’t seem to be any way to attach an image in this forum. There is only the img tag, for referencing an image from a URL.

Click the Attachments and other options, below the text input window.

Sorry… I must have missed that. ???

Here you go…

Interesting, I have Avast Mobile Security on my two Android 11 Phones (Samsung Galaxy A12 and A51) and I don’t see that on either. I can’t recall making any changes that might have that impact.

Hopefully r@vast (Avast Team) can get back to the topic.

@Todd128
It looks like a floating icon. I can vaguely remember something like it on older version of Avast Mobile Security, perhaps related to power saving or something, but can’t really remember more.

What happens if you tap that edge icon?
Does that reveal its function and so give a clue to removal.

It doesn’t do anything when I tap on it. I can only move it around the edge of the screen. It’s annoying as can be. It’s always getting in the way and I have to slide it out of the way in order to do what I want to do. >:(

Hi,

It is most likely caused by some device setting. Do you perhaps use a launcher on your device?
Could you provide us with the make and model of your device and Android version?
You could also try to reinstall Avast and see if that helps.

Hello @r@vast,

Thank you for the reply. I was just about to uninstall and reinstall, when I realized that the little button is gone. :thinking:

I’m not sure why it started to appear. I’m using a Google Pixel 4a (5G), stock with Nova Launcher. The same setup I’ve been using since the 4a came out…

Strange… Well, thank you for your assistance anyway…

I am having the same problem. It started a few hours ago seemingly at random. How do I get rid of this thing?

@Todd128 and @Bill,
I take it you have Android 12.
This seems to be a new feature in Android 12 for apps using “Accessibility”

  • open your device’s settings
  • go to “Accessibility”
  • select “Installed” to see the installed apps
  • select the Avast app
  • you should see the possibility to disable the “badge”

Thank you, your solution worked FINALLY! Got that annoying little thing gone, yay! Thanks much!!

Thank you for the update.
